House Update

Over the past few months we have not been doing any physical work in the cottage.  We have however been doing a fair bit of research and pricing of kitchens, bathrooms, windows etc.

Before we start on our own cottage, we have the farm cottage to decorate before it is let out so that's what we have been concentrating on.  So far all the rooms have been stripped and one room is newly papered and painted.  We have a tenant lined up and so the cottage should be ready by the end of September.  After that we will continue with our own cottage.  We have taken some photos which I promise to upload soon.  Meantime I am really enjoying my new occupation and love being able to get up in the morning, pull on my old clothes and walk to work! Hope it continues!

Tuesday 1 March 2011

What better day to start than the first day of March!  Inspired by my daughters I am starting this blog to share the rennovation project of our little cottage in the Scottish Borders. I will try to update regularly as work progresses.  My husband and I are planning to do as much of the work as possible ourselves which will mean learning some new skills I think!!  Over the coming months the whole cottage needs to be stripped and put back together again as well as needing new windows all round.  It seems like a mountain to climb but, as they say, how do you eat an elephant? - one step at a time!  Watch this space!!

I am new to blogging so I will be trying to get to grips with all the elements and hope to make it look as inviting and interesting to read as possible.  If you have any suggestions and ideas I would be grateful of your help.
